It takes absolute guts and the ability to act first and ask questions later. Mrs. Hollingworth showed that through her career and without a doubt had an amazing life.
ReplyDeleteLike Ms. Hollingworth, international journalists should strive to be passionate about getting the story. Curiosity and energy also make it to the list to be an international journalist. And Ms. Hollingworth was very quick to adapt to her environments, for example, she'd sleep in trucks, so determination is a must as well.
ReplyDeleteToday, it is almost "easy" to be a citizen journalist, even one that deals with international affairs. However, to be a respectable international journalist, I think one needs to understand the country/community they are reporting about, and have a passion to tell their story.
ReplyDeleteIt is very clear that Ms. Hollingworth was very passionate about her work. She went to great lengths to get her stories. She was never satisfied, and always wanted more. The drive and courage that she say displayed are key components to what makes a true international journalist.
ReplyDeleteTo be an international journalist, there definitely has to be passion, determination, and perseverance. Ms. Hollingworth presented all of these characteristics through her work and her triumph of getting breaking news out for the world to hear.

Do not be afraid to mess up and learn from your mistakes. Being multilingual also helps international journalists be more successful while trying to learn and understand other countries.
ReplyDeleteTo be an international journalist one must have a wide breadth of knowledge, passion, adaptability, and the humility to meld into different cultures quickly and intimately. Without the ability to adapt, being thrown into situations your individual culture has not prepared you for can quickly cause your work to falter.
ReplyDeleteIt takes a lot of guts to be an international journalist, Ms. Hollingworth obviously had that in abundance. Wit, connections and tenacity are also requirements. Plenty of people can write, not many have the ability to do what she did.

Clare Hollingworth has dedicated almost 4 decades in reporting news about World War 2. Also, international journalist has to adapt into different types of environment and has to have strong determination to face every hardships during their travel period for news information.
